Welcome to Bakerssociety
In the fifties when the bakery trade considered the baking skill secretive, there was no scope for the technical persons to meet and exchange their view. This hurdle was removed in mid sixties when the Government of India established Modern Bakeries (India) Limited as a Public Sector Enterprise with its units spread all over the country and the U.S. Wheat Associates assisted in setting up two Baking Schools, one at Anand and the other at Bangalore. The bakers then realized the need of using new techniques. This brought the technical persons together. During these meetings they felt the need for a common platform for technical as well as commercial purpose for the bakery industry which can have impact on the Government. This was the time when the Society of Indian Bakers (SIB) came into existence on 21.1.1971. Its constitution was approved and office bearers were elected. Mr. L.R. Kandhari was elected as its first President and Mr. P.C. Goel as Secretary, Mr. R.J. Adams was the first Editor of the "Indian Baker" which was published in February, 1971.
